Raised in the streets of Walsall, The Assist are an unembellished statement on the world today. The five-piece, who are one of the UK’s most established underground bands have redefined the boundaries of indie music with their acclaimed kaleidoscopic styles, fresh impetus, hope and melody.
Ever since forming, The Assist have had their finger on the pulse of modern music, capturing the imaginations of fans and peers alike. From subterranean sell-out shows across the UK, to defining support slots with Blossoms and RAT BOY the bands raucous live show set the standard for future triumphs. Their explosive debut EP ‘Lost’ propelled the band to new heights, gaining them support from the likes of Radio X, Absolute, and BBC Radio 6, as well as charting in Spotify’s ‘Viral 50’ and the top ten of the iTunes Album chart.
With 2018 came continued success, their biggest ever gigs, and an extended canon of youthful indie-anthems. A subsequent tour with local heroes The Twang saw the band play the main rooms of the UK’s O2 Academy’s, along side festival appearances at Reading & Leeds, Isle of Wight and TRNSMT Festival. With brothers Mikey and Ryan’s youthful dreams long surpassed, the band went on to play sold out shows in Europe, as well as a six-date tour in Russia, seeing them play to crowds of over 12,000 people.
Reciting the better days of growing up in The Black County, The Assist’s music embodies who they are as people. Never has a sound been more relatable.
