DHP Presents:
Shambolics
Live at The Grace, London
“Soaring guitar pop that recalls everyone from The La’s to Blossoms and beyond” CLASH
Shambolics start 2022 with the news that their headline show at Glasgow’s SWG3 on the re-scheduled date of Friday 20th May, is now sold out. The gig, along with a new Edinburgh show in May, will now mark the home-coming leg of a new UK tour, with a string of headline dates across the country, including a stop at The Grace on April 22nd.
Shambolics are one of those bands for whom ‘thank you and goodnight’ always leaves their audience wanting more, ready to spread the word that this is a band you absolutely have to see, an asset which has seen them rise through the ranks in their adopted home town of Glasgow and across Scotland.
“Everything we do revolves around the live performance and how a song we write will go down with the crowd,” says co-lead vocalist and guitarist Darren Forbes. “We love experimenting and being creative in the studio, but that’s only half the story for us. Our shows are a collective experience so if a song gets people going mad at a gig then we’ve got a winner.”
Case in point is the band’s latest single If You Want It, produced by Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, The Dunts), with its scream-along chorus, ready-made for the bouncing mass of stadiums and festivals.
“We wanted to write a real ‘fuck you’, big energy song,” Forbes explains. “It’s got a real football chant vibe and it went down a storm when we played it for the first time on our Scottish tour earlier this month. Everyone picked up the words right away, folk were crowd surfing, all sorts. We couldn’t believe it really, as no one had heard it before. The plan was always to write big songs to play in big venues. We’re like the cheerleaders but the crowd brings the energy we need to perform at our best. The bigger the crowd, the more energy there is for us to feed off. We’re so excited to get back out on the road.”
